Weston came away from Nyewood Lane empty handed after another unimpressive display which leaves them dangerously close to the relegation spots in the Blue Square South. Their makeshift team, still missing the three main centre backs, huffed and puffed but failed to deliver any signs of hope foe the remainder of the season.

Manager Tony Ricketts did have Ashan Holgate back in the side after his recent suspension, and Gareth Hopkins was available following work commitments.

With the first attack of the game the home side forced a corner but the ball was headed wide and then Mark Knee was able to turn Michael Green too easily but he also wasted the chance by firing wide. Alex Haddow then got in the act but once again fired wide when well placed. From Weston's first corner Ian Herring headed wide and when Lewis Powell set up Aaron Wilson he was well off target with his effort.

On n24 minutes the deadlock was broken when from a free kick wide on the left, Weston keeper Ryan Northmore appeared to lose sight of the ball and as the ball appeared to be drifting wide of the post Holgate somehow managed to get a foot to the ball and turn it into his own net.

As the half drew to a close Herring thundered in a shot after being set up by Wilson but the ball grazed the crossbar, and at the other end Haddow did exactly the same with Northmore beaten.

Within a minute of the restart the home side doubled their lead. A cross from the left was allowed to carry to the far post and in came Dan Beck, completely unmarked to send his diving header into the empty net.

Hopkins pushed up into attack and was unlucky when he was put through on goal, only to be robbed at the last minute by a fine saving tackle.

The home side came close to scoring again when Knee burst through, drawing Northmore off his line he neatly steered the ball wide of the keeper's reach, only to see the ball strike the bottom of the post before being cleared. Northmore was then lucky to stay on the pitch when he was only cautioned for handling outside of his area. The resultant free kick struck the bar and went harmlessly over.

Weston made a double substitution, taking off Holgate and Powell and bringing on Dean Grubb and Elvis Ewruje but to no avail, the only other chance that fell to the Seagulls saw Wilson pick up a misdirected header but again waste the chance by blazing wide.
