Weston slipped to their fourth home defeat of the season whilst their visitors picked up their first away win of the season after this impressive display, the only goal of the game coming just before the break.

Weston started the game better and new signing Charlie Comyn-Platt, making his home debut, saw his back header from a free kick tipped over the bar by visiting keeper Shane Herbert. The home side had a let off in the 7th minute when Craig Rand almost headed a harmless through ball over the advancing Ryan Northmore and into his own net. The visitors almost opened the scoring when Neil Midgley was only just off target with a flying header that almost crept in at the far post.

The deadlock was almost broken on 20 minutes when a tremendous volley from Aaron Wilson from fully 30 yards smashed against the angle of post and bar, whilst at the other end he visitors should have taken the lead on 38 minutes when a slip from defender Barry McConnell let in Ashley Fuller but Northmore stood big and superbly pushed his effort away for a corner.

The deadlock was broken just three minutes before the break and had a slice of luck about it, when Weston failed to clear their lines Michael Gash sent in a volley which struck Rand on the way, and left Northmore flat footed as the ball flew into the bottom corner.

The second half saw the visitors firmly in control with the home side being quickly closed down and restricted to long range efforts. Lewis Powell came closest for Weston when he turned sharply in the box and his left foot drive brought a superb one-handed save from Herbert, but it was the visitors who should have put the game beyond doubt. The impressive Anthony Thomas smashed a rising shot from 25 yards against the crossbar and Fuller was unlucky when his shot from the edge of the area struck the far post.
