Weston slumped to another home defeat at the hands of the students at Woodspring Stadium on Friday. The goal coming right on the stroke of half time and despite some added pressure in the second half the Seagulls could not get back on even terms.

The visitors showed their intentions right from the off with an effort that was high and wide and then Josh llewellyn saw his shot take a deflection but Weston keeper Ryan Northmore was able to get down and save. Weston's first effort came from Marvin Brown but visiting keeper darren Chitty was able to save low down to his left.

Brown then wasted a chance by firing wide when a defensive slip allowed him room for a shot from 25 yards. Marc McGregor then tested Chitty but again the keeper was up to the task.

Weston should have taken the lead on 39 minutes when a storming run from Ben Wells took him on a 50 yard run, he crossed for Brown who in turn slipped the ball to McGregor, he slipped his marker but from only 10 yards out Chitty managed to get a hand to his effort and turn the ball round the post. The visitors then had another let off when captain Gary warren almost headed into his own net when attempting a clearance, but once again Chitty leaped to his left to palm the ball over.

Right on the stroke of half time came the only goal of the game, a break down the left allowed Takumi Ake to cut in from the by-line and he drilled a low shot the keeper's left, although Northmore got a hand to the ball he could not prevent it from going in.

Twice in the opening 15 minutes of the second half Mark Mckeever almost scored for the home side direct from corner kicks, the first was palmed away and the second struck the post but Ashan Holgate following up, was unable to keep his effort down and the ball sailed over the bar.

This was the closest that Weston came to getting back on even terms, despite making three substitutions in the second half they were unable to break down a solid defence and the crowd went away wondering where the next victory is going to come from.
